Diamond Y’ello is a mobile based banking account developed in collaboration with telecommunication giant, MTN, to offer full-fledged financial services to over 63 million subscribers. The innovative solution, which is primarily targeted at the un(der)banked customers, boasts of a number of unique features such as: compatibility with any phone type, a strong and vast agent network of over 30,000 nationwide, ability to carry out full banking transactions without airtime or data amongst others. The Lafferty Global awards showcase innovative services and products in retail banking, cards and payments and merchant services, with a diverse range of winners from North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The awards was presented in Cape Town, South Africa, in February 2017 as part of the International Retail Banking Council and the International Cards and Payments Council. According to the Chief spokesperson of the Bank, Chioma Afe, "This award is a strong testament of Diamond Bank’s pursuit of quality customer service delivery using digital technology’’. Another financial inclusion product offered by Diamond Bank to cater to the mass market is BETA - a safe and simple savings and transactional proposition delivered via a low-cost service infrastructure that provides maximum convenience to customers using a multi-channel platform including mobile devices, debit cards amongst others.
