Couple of 69 years of Marriage dies holding hands

For Isaac Vatkin, 91, and his wife, Teresa Vatkin, 89, even death would not do them part, as Isaac followed minutes after his wife gave up the ghost last weekend. After 69 years of marriage, Teresa died at
12:10 a.m. on Saturday after years of suffering from Alzheimer's disease, while Isaac died minutes later, with their hands intertwined.
They were both in Highland Park Hospital in Skokie, Illinois, where Isaac sat by Teresa and watched her die, but when their entwined fingers were separated at
12:50 a.m., it was noticed that Isaac had passed away too.
Isaac and Teresa met in their native Argentina, and eventually, they married and moved to Skokie. Together they raised their three children; Clara, Daniel and Leonardo.
During a joint funeral held Monday for the couple, their daughter, Clara Gesklin said her parents’ "love for each other was so strong they simply could not live without each other."
The couple’s son, Leonardo Vatkin, said his father "never wanted to do anything apart" from his wife.
Their grandson William Vatkin said: "You didn’t want to see them go, but you couldn’t ask for anything more."

BE A FAMILY BUILDER NOT A GOLD DIGGER

Many Suggestions and advices these days has to with ladies admonishing fellow ladies to desist from dating broke guys. This is absolutely ridiculous.Your parents are financially okay?Who told you your mum married your father as a rich man?She stood with him through trying times and now ,you as their daughter is reaping the fruits of her patience.
Below are the reasons why the theory "DON'T DATE BROKE GUYS" is totally wrong!
(1)You asked him to buy or get you something and he couldn't afford it and u decided to leave him for that?If you could afford it ,why didnt you get it in the first place?Though,a man is suppose to carry out some certain duties but dont heap your burden on him ,he is a boyfriend ,not your husband,go meet your parents, they gave birth to you and should be able to take responsibilities on you as long as you are not yet married.
(2)Struggle with him ,work hard and ensure to give him your support .When the story changes ,you are sure to be given the credit. You want an already made man? Then you should be happy hearing this statement from him"I WAS RICH BEFORE I MET YOU".
(3)Obviously,most guys (not all)dont ignore ladies that stood with them during their struggle to success.I hope you know that 2face wasn't rich when he started dating Annie, despite his flaws he still got married to her at the end of the day.Sanyeri(Afonja Olaniyi)a yoruba actor, got married to his girlfriend that was with him before he came into limelight.A very good example is Odunlade Adekola, some of you abuse him for having a ugly wife.Where were the bleach queen actresses when the wife was suffering with him?.Support him girl, you will get the credit soon.
(4) We have so many cases of broke guys who became rich and rich guys who became poor. That broke guy you embarassed today may have another story to tell tomorrow and that rich guy you followed may later dump you for the lady that stood with him during his stuggle.NOTE:Rich guys hardly appreciate a lady they met after their success. Some rich guys are out there without girlfriend ,not because they see no lady but because they doubt if there will be true love. Its believed that Rich guys hardly find true love which is truly embedded in that statement "DONT DATE BROKE GUYS"That means you dated the rich guy for the money not for love.
(5)Several ladies are single out there all in the name of searching for a rich dude.Work for your own money ,rich guys will flock around you,you wont have to search for one again.
(6)Many ladies are in the grave because they wanted a rich guy but unfortunately for them ,they fell victim of ritualist.Do you know how many ladies died because of Iphone4......now we have Iphone7.........Iphone10 will soon be knocking at the door in few years time.
Do you know Iphone8 will be launched soon?So please double your Olosho hustles,so that you can use the latest gadgets.Don't mind any guy that wanna fall in real love with you, they are all heartbreakers as love is dead,Jump like frog from one yahoo boy to another to a married man,and to a sugar daddy......They are the ones that can pay your bills.Don't mind any guy professing love to you ojare.Bleep LOVE!!!!This world is very sweet my sister enjoy and enjoy and enjoy and dont listen to anyone or take up any preaching from anyone.
But I have a good news for you my sister,When that guy you wasting your life with is ready to settle down,he will marry a very decent girl who has a good future ambition, properly trained, well cultured and mannered and he will use you as a testimony in the Church.By then you will be above 30years and your big boobs and ass would have sagged, wrinkled with heavy stretch marks all over and you will be looking extra-ordinarily older than your age because your beauty would have faded off,..Even MaryKay,BlackOpral,Sleek or classic will not stay well on your face again.A word is enough for d wise
Ladies ,be independent .With that you will earn guys respect.Stop being a GOLD DIGGER!

'Genevieve Nnaji of course.

When our reporter implied if he likes Cougar women, the rapper burst into laughter and screamed: 'I don’t like Cougars Ooooo.’

On the possibility of making her his wife, he said, 'I have never really thought about that part but if it’s meant to happen between us, it's fine. There are situations where younger people marry the older ones. But if my mother watches this interview, am so dead, the rapper said as he laughs uncontrollably.

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, says the entire yearly budget of the ministry of information and culture is under N15bn - Mohammed accuses the opposition of inventing fake and malicious stories using bloggers and some online media to malign government officials - The minister says the intentions of the perpetrators and carriers of the such reports are to distract the government to lose focus The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, says the report that he has $1.2bn (about N400bn) in his bank account is “fake and vicious’’. READ ALSO: Jega replies Jonathan's statement that 2015 election was flawed The minister stated this on Thursday, April 27, in Ilorin at the Annual National Conference and General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations with the theme; “Communicating Values for Development and Sustainability’’. The minister said that the report was invented by the opposition and naysayers to malign him and the government, adding that the alleged fund is about the budget of his ministry for 25 years, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. “How else can you explain that people will believe and circulate a fake report that the Minister of Information and Culture that is yours truly has $1.2bn in his imaginary bank account?

“Let’s examine this for a moment. $1.2bn is about N400bn

The entire yearly budget of the Ministry of Information and Culture, where I preside, is under N15bn and these include salaries, overhead and capital projects. “Assuming, without conceding that the Minister somehow manages to transfer the entire budget into his personal account, it will take 25 years for him to amass N400bn. “Yet, this disinformation was lapped up by the public,” he said. The minister said that similar imaginary huge sums of money had been credited to other ministers. He condemned the ugly trend by opposition, who were inventing the fake and malicious stories using bloggers and some online media to malign government officials. According to him, the intention of the perpetrators and carriers of the reports are to distract the government to lose focus, but it will not fall to their antics. The minister said that Public Relations gave him the first break in life being the profession he practised after his graduation for over 40 years. Mohammed, a fellow of the Institute said that the theme of the conference was apt and called on NIPR members to be proactive in the discharge of their duties. “You must neither be intimidated, cowed nor be overwhelmed by the cynics, you must set your own agenda and daily review such with a view to improving on them. “You must never lose touch with your traditional constituents. You must understand the tactics of the opposition, which is ambush and irrational,’’ he said. The minister specifically tasked government information managers to equip themselves with qualities such as integrity, courage, abnormal capacity for hard work, ingenuity resourcefulness and ability to think out of the box.
The president and chairman governing council of NIPR, Dr Rotimi Oladele said the conference was to deliberate on how the profession could be used to promote communication values for development. He underscored the need for practitioners to showcase national values and present them to global market. Oladele commended the minister for the support given to the Institute and for creating time to attend the event. The minister also inaugurated a new Governing Council for the Institute to run for two years under the leadership of Oladele. Some of the members of the Council are, former Defence Spokesperson, retired Gen. Chris Olukolade, former Director of Press and Protocol in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Mr Peter Dama and his successor, Mr Timothy Oyedeji. Others are Mr Wale Adeniyi of Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Sule Yau a former Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Government and Alhaja Bola Osifeso.

Jega Replies Jonathan Accusations

- Goodluck Jonathan said the 2015 election was flawed and blamed Professor Attahiru Jega for it

- The former INEC chairman replied through his assistant that it was fair

- He said he was not not influenced by anyone in decision making

Professor Attahiru Jega has responded to Goodluck Jonathan’s statement that the 2015 general election was flawed due to the different votes recorded in the election.

Jonathan made this claim in Against the Run of Play, a book by ThisDay Editorial Board Chairman Olusegun Adeniyi.               Jonathan had said that he was disappointed in Professor Jega who was the then chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the way the election went.

He said the margin between the presidential election and National Assembly results in Kano State showed everything was not right with the election.

Prof Mohammed Kuna who is the special assistant to Jega spoke on his behalf insisting there was nothing wrong with the Kano election.

“There is nothing particularly special about the Kano result; it is a general trend as many votes were more interested in the presidential election than in other elections. That was what happened across the country and you can go and do the tabulation.”                                                                                                                                   “With the card reader, it is no longer possible to return results that are higher than the accredited voters. If you analyse the results nationally, you will discover the same trend.”

A source also close to Jega said the former president but have been ill-advised as the former INEC chairman would not have been arm-twisted to do what was wrong.                                       “When the military and security chiefs demanded for more time to deal with the insurgency, the reasons were genuine. As at February 2015, it would have been very difficult to vote in Gombe, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

“But the moment all the arms and ammunition that had been ordered finally arrived, the military was able to use them to degrade the capacity of Boko Haram.”

Although the former president faulted the results of the 2015 presidential election, he said he conceded defeat to avoid bloodshed.                                                                                  “Go and check the results from Kano. The Presidential election and that of National Assembly happened on the same day and same time. The National Assembly result reflected that about 800,000 people voted but that of the presidential reflected a vote of about 1.8 million. I had reports of what happened but I decided that for such to be accepted, it meant that those who called themselves my supporters must have colluded. I was betrayed by the very people I relied on to win the election.

“In 2011 when Buhari did not campaign anywhere and could not have won the election, there was a spontaneous violent reaction that led to the death of several innocent people, including Youth Corps members.”

“I asked myself: what would happen in a situation in which there was already internal and international conspiracy in his favour? I could not bear the thought of anybody dying, so I told myself I had only one option and that was to concede," Jonathan said.

Featured:Simple Ways Of Impressing Your Interviewers

A couple of years ago, my idea of a job interview was being in front of a hard, unsmiling panel and having extremely difficult questions thrown at me, like rocks. However, when I got invited for my first interview, I realized this is not always the case.

A job interview does not have to be tense. In fact, you may find yourself with a very friendly panel, who will go all out to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

However, irrespective of the size and manner of the panel you are faced with, what is required of you is confidence and of course, the appropriate answers to every question you are asked. This part is what’s tricky.

So, in this post, we’d be looking at the simple ways to answer 5 tricky questions you are likely to get in your job interview.

1. Tell Me About Yourself.

This question seems very straightforward. Usually, the first you’d be asked in an interview. However, it is tricky because though it sounds like an invitation to tell your life story, it is not.

When asked the ‘tell me about yourself’ question, what the hiring panel is actually asking you is to tell them about yourself, as it pertains to the position you are applying for.

With this in mind, you should not begin to share generic information about yourself, your family or how many siblings you have. Rather, you could start with your name, academic qualifications, present skills and strengths, previous experiences as well as future professional aspirations. You should also feel free to ask the interviewers for clarifications, just in case there are specific information they’d like to hear about.

Take this for instance:

Question: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Wrong Answer: Hmmn, where do I start? My name is Oluwaseun. I was born in the late 80s and currently married with 6 kids. …

Right Answer: My name is Oluwaseun, a second-year master’s student of marketing communications at the Lagos Business School. Prior to pursing this degree, I worked with the marketing and communications department at Shell, where I developed and honed my skills in copywriting and digital marketing. This experience really piqued my interest in this field and I look forward to an opportunity to learn more and contribute to your marketing communications department…

2. Where do you See Yourself in Five Years?

This question is tricky because you might be tempted to say everything you see yourself doing in five years and completely miss the mark. Like the first question, your answer should be much more professional than personal. What the hiring panel really wants to know is if you are going to stick with them and if you are worth the investment of training.

To answer this question, you could tell them how you think the job will provide you with so many opportunities, such that in 5 years, you'd be in a particular position within the organisation. You can also explain what value you hope to have added as well as how you could also have improved yourself professionally in that time.

Take this for instance:

Question: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Wrong Answer: In five years, I’d be a millionaire, enjoying life. I’d have built a house and would probably be the CEO of this company …

Right answer: In five years, I hope to have acquired a lot of knowledge in marketing communications, as well as contributed immensely to the growth of my department and the company. I’m also looking forward to eventually taking on additional managerial responsibilities and possibly taking the lead on some projects…

3. What is your Greatest Weakness?

Like the first two, this question is also very tricky because you might be tempted to give personal, instead of professional answers.

When asked this question, what interviewers actually want to know is if or not you are consciously aware of the areas you could improve on. Your weakness does not have to be present. It could be something that you’ve already worked on, but say it anyway. I’d advise that you think about this question before the interview, so you don’t give a generic answer or be at a loss of what to say. No one would believe you if you say you have no weakness.

To answer this question, start by mentioning the weakness, how it poses a problem to your work or career and how you’ve started to work on improving.

Take this for instance:

Question: What is your greatest weakness?

Wrong answer: Hmmn, my greatest weakness is to sleep. I could sleep all day…

Right answer: I used to have to have a problem with time management and this affected me every time I tried to multitask. Currently, I’m working on this through the use of certain time management tools.

4. What did you Hate About your Last Job?

This question is tricky because you might be tempted to spill all the beans about why you hated your boss, the work, the timing - all of it! This is wrong, because as Kachi Tila-Adesina puts it, the interviewers might already begin to picture you sitting elsewhere and literally dragging their name and their organisation in the mud as well.’

To answer this question, start by saying how beneficial the job was, before going to state one or two things you could have changed, if given the opportunity. Also, explain why you think the role you are now applying for is a better fit.

If you did not hate your last job, you can say so. This response can also be adapted, just in case you are asked why you are leaving your current position.

Take this for instance:

Question: What did you hate about your last job?

Wrong answer: Ooh, my boss! I hated my boss! …

Right answer: Well, my last job did offer me an opportunity to learn and grow in my career. However, I think it would have been better if such opportunity was granted in a less hostile work environment... I believe that working here would not just give me a better opportunity to grow, but also a conducive and comfortable work environment, which is very important to growth.

5. How much are you looking to be paid?

Now, this question is tricky because well, money is involved and while you don’t want to short-change yourself, you wouldn’t want to price yourself out of range either!

I know money is very important but when asked this question, don’t jump at the opportunity to scream ‘one million naira!’ Instead, you should have done your research on the organisation you are coming into and how much is standard for the role you are applying for.

If you are aware of how much the company really wants to hire you, say because of your expertise and skills, you can negotiate your salary right there. However, if this is not the case, you’ll need to fall back on the information you’ve gathered on what the going rate is, for the position you’re being interviewed for. In the worst case scenarios, you can request to know more about the role’s responsibilities and benefits packages. You should also mention how you are willing to discuss further when the time is right.

Take this for instance:

Question: How much are you looking to be paid?

Wrong answer: I can’t take anything less than ‘One million naira’!

Right answer: That's a fair question. To answer it properly, I'd need to know more about the role’s responsibilities and benefits package. I am quite confident that knowing the reputation of the company, when the time comes, any offer you make will be competitive.”

WHY I WAS MOBBED AT EDE-AREGBE'S AIDE

Following an attack on her during the burial of a popular politician, an aide to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, has explained what really happened.
Amosun rescues Aregbesola’s Ex-aide Babalola from angry mob at Adeleke’s burial
Hon Idiat Babalola, an aide to Governor Rauf Aregbesola who is also a commissioner nominee and who was attacked at the burial of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke on Monday, said on Tuesday that her attackers picked on her simply over unfounded rumours that she wants to be Deputy Governor after the current tenure of the governor.
Babalola, who was attacked shortly after arriving the venue of the burial, said she sensed trouble when some of the hoodlums started to make utterances which suggested that her rumoured deputy governorship ambition was to checkmate the governorship ambition of the late Senator, who had openly declared his intention to succeed Governor Aregbesola.
Explaining further, Babalola, who served in the last cabinet as Special Adviser to the Governor on Federal Matters, said her attackers could not have been acting over anything against Governor Aregbesola but simply on the local politics of Ede, where she also hails from just as the late Senator Adeleke.
“I am a proud daughter of Ede and Uncle Isiaka has been a mentor and we never had any disagreement till the news of his death was broken to me while in Lagos on Sunday morning I was heartbroken and immediately cut all my other engagements and came down to Ede from Lagos.

“We worked together with Uncle for the re-election of Governor Aregbesola in 2014 and for his own election into the Senate in 2015.

“Those who masterminded the attacks on me are people with poor understanding of the relationship between us and who acted based on their own political permutations only,” Babalola said.
She explained that she was at the burial in company with her father, Chief SOB Babalola, a prominent industrialist who is also a friend to the later father of now late Senator Adeleke.
“Not long after we sat down for the prayers, I sensed some hoodlums saying some things like I wanted to be deputy governor while Uncle (Senator Adeleke) has declared his ambition to be governor from the same Ede. I heard them talking about the new caretaker committee members being more of my loyalists than those of Senator Adeleke. And before we knew it, they grew more daring and unruly and brought down the canopy on the dignitaries present. It was the most unruly and irresponsible act I have seen in our land in history,” Babalola said
She said it was unfortunate that the unruly behaviours of the miscreants robbed a prominent son of Ede, the state burial that he deserved and which state government planned for him.
“That cannot be the best way to honour he memory of Uncle Adeleke. Senator Adeleke was a man of his people; a lover of peace and a political associate of Governor Aregbesola. Senator Adeleke could not have countenanced such misconduct in his lifetime,” she added.
She said there is no reason for the people of Ede, in spite of their political differences, to have any misgiving against Aregbesola saying that the city has benefitted immensely under the Aregbesola administration.
She said with Ede being a beneficiary of the some of the best schools, roads, industrialisation youth employment and others, the city owes the administration appreciation.
Babalola expressed appreciation to Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, whom she said dropped the honour of being a governor to practically engage the hoodlums not to carry out their more dastardly plots.

EKITI STATE NOW PART OF BIAFRA-FAYOSE

Controversial People’s Democratic Party chieftain, Governor Ayodele Peter Fayose has declared his unflinching support to the Biafra cause.
Governor Ayodele Fayose
Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has claimed the state is now part of Biafra.
Fayose was speaking to newsmen, during the bail hearing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, at the Federal High Court that sat in Abuja on Tuesday.
“Ekiti State is now part of Biafra,” he declared. This is the first time Fayose is openly showing support for the movement, which is agitating for a breakaway of the South-East from the Nigeria.
Kanu has been granted bail on health grounds. The IPOB leader is also expected to provide three sureties one of whom must be a serving Senator, a Jewish religious leader and highly respected person, who own land anywhere in Abuja.
The bail bond has been set at N100million for each surety. Kanu was also ordered never to grant any interviews to the press, pending the outcome of his trial. He will not be seen in a gathering of more than 10 people.

JOSHUA CAN END KLITSHKO'S CAREER.

Wladimir Klitschko’s career will be over if he loses to Anthony Joshua, warns big brother Vitali.

Vitali claims Wladimir will have to quit if he is beaten for a second successive time by Joshua.

Wladimir has refused to say if he will retire if he loses, insisting he is not looking any further than Saturday’s showdown with Joshua at Wembley. Vitali, 45, who retired in 2012, feels it will be impossible for the former world heavyweight king to continue at 41 on the back of two defeats.

“Wladimir right now is focusing on the fight,” the Ukrainian told Sky Sports’ Behind the Ropes. “He knows from this fight a lot depends on his future and his career. “It’s the time to think about stopping and not fighting anymore, or continuing his career.

“Wladimir knows he has to dominate. Not to wait, to come in and show his performance. No other way. He knows that, I talked to him, many times. He knows that already well. “Everything, his future depends on him, and that’s why if Joshua loses the fight, he has a lot of space, because of his age. He has a next time to fight, to try to be the world champion.

“Wladimir doesn’t have a second chance. That’s why we expect full concentration from him and, of course, a good result.”

120MW SOLAR PROJECT SIGNED BY FG AND TWO OTHERS

HOPE of improved power supply in the country is being rekindled as the federal government has signed two put/call option agreements, PCOA, with solar developers Afrinegia Nigeria Limited and CT Cosmos Nigeria Limited.

The agreement will see Afrinegia Nigeria Limited develop a 50 megawatts (MW) photovoltaic P, system project, while CT Cosmos Power Company will develop a 70MW installation.

The agreements, coordinated by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, NBET, are expected to help finalise a power-purchase deal that the federal government had with 14 PV developers in the middle of 2016.

Against this development, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Fashola stated: “Sometimes when the weather gets stormy and cloudy, like it has been a few months back, some of the first people to go are the moving investors as they look for calmer weather. It is the persistence and perseverance and the indomitable spirit of Nigerians who have invested in Nigeria that will help to support the efforts that the President and Vice President and the Nigerian government are making to rebuild the Nigeria that we want to see.

“It sits very well with our Ministry’s plan to deliver 30 percent of our total energy capacity through renewable energy by 2030. So it has ticked all of the right boxes; what remains now is to tick the final box to get power to people’s’ homes.”

DIGITAL TV USERS IN JOS FACES BLACKOUT

420,000 set top boxes distributed during the pilot switchover from analogue to digital transmission in Plateau State would experience blackout unless users pay N1,500 access fee, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Nazif Muhammad has said.

The commissioner said, Monday, that the set top boxes are programmed to work for free for a year as government had paid the subscription fees for the year, after which an access fee of N1,500 per annum was to be paid by users.

He recalled that the state, which was the first in the country to migrate from analogue to digital transmission on April 30, 2016, had provided 200,000 set top boxes free of charge to the people of Plateau, adding that those who did not get the free set top boxes bought theirs from distributors at a subsidized fee.

According to him, “The idea was to give free television services to those who had received or bought the boxes for one year. It is almost one year and we deem it necessary to inform the general public that by the end of this month, 129,000 boxes will have total blackout unless they are recharged.

“By next month a total of 32,047 set top boxes will have a total blackout and this will continue on a monthly basis depending on the number of set top boxes that are activated in that particular month. This exercise will continue till November, 2017 when a  total of 420,000 will be blacked out because over 420,000 boxes have been activated in the state.

“Users should know that when they experience blackout it is not that the set top box or television set is spoilt but because they have not been recharged. Members of the public would soon be informed when, where and how to recharge, as distributors are working on the processes of recharging,” Muhammad implored. He advised the people not to take their boxes to technicians for repair when they are experiencing black out to avoid damage.

JONATHAN FAULT BUHARI'S ANTI-CORRUPTION FIGHT

-Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, says his family is being hounded by the Buhari administration

- Jonathan suggests Buhari could still fight corruption using a different style

 - The former president says a situation in which people go into exile for political reasons is not good

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s style of fighting corruption, saying it forces people to go into exile for political reasons.

Jonathan also said that his family is being hounded by the Buhari administration. The former president, made his feelings known in a book, “Against The Run of Play”, written by the chairman of This Day editorial board, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, The Nation reports.

He said if every president decides to go in to dismantle what his predecessor did, society will never make progress.

Jonathan suggested that Buhari could still fight corruption using a different style. He said: “I feel sad about the way my family is being hounded.”

“Society is like a building. You build it one block at a time. If every president decides to go in to dismantle what his predecessor did, society will never make progress. I expected President Buhari to correct whatever mistakes I may have made and then carry on from there.

“But a situation in which people go into exile for political reasons is not good for us."

SIX(6) SIGNS BIAFRA CAN BE REALISED!!!!

The day, the 15th of January, is very significant in Nigeria's history, reason being that it was on this day in 1970, that the Biafra war officially was called off.

Though the casualties of the war was higher on the Biafran side, the Nigerian civil war still has not killed many Igbo's quest and longing for a Republic.

Nnamdi Kanu, the nee face of the Biafra struggle has continued to wax strong, even in prison, and on Tuesday, April 25, he was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Having said this, the resolve of pro-Biafrans have grown stronger over the years, and below are 6 crucial reasons why they stand a chance to actualize the dream that was born over over 50-years ago.

1.IT IS LEGAL

When a people believe that they have been oppressed for too long, and cannot remain as part of the community in which they thrive, its is their right to request that they be set apart from the parent group.

There are justified reasons for secession, especially if it has to do with rectifying grave injustices, and violence is not involved in the process.

The pro-Biafra agitators are of the believe that they have a legal right to demand an exit, and they have continued to push vehemently for that which they believe in.

2.FOREIGN COUNTRIES SUPPORT

Just few months back, the struggle for the actualisation of a sovereign state of Biafra received a massive boost following the reported visit of a Phillippian envoy to Imo state.

According to Vanguard, the Phillippian Senate president’s aide, Lady Cynthia Esgurrna Touraha, was a guest of Imo Bilie Initiative (IBI) a non-governmental organization that is also strongly behind the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) getting justice in an Owerri high court.

The Phillippian was to witness the court proceedings on Thursday, March 31, 2016, in the suit filed by IBI against the federal government.

3.INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS PRESSURE

In 2015, the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS), expressed its support to Biafra’s immediate from Nigeria, simultaneously presenting a list of demands to the Nigeria federal government. The Organization that promotes self-determination and the end to colonial era boundaries in Africa has declared its support to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and its adherents in a letter to the Nigeria federal government. “Today the people of Biafra are locked in an emerging struggle with the Nigeria federal government, the inevitable result of which will be self-determination for Biafra. Unfortunately the Nigerian government has resorted to summary execution and detention of Biafran patriots. The situation will surely escalate unless immediate action is taken."

4.THE POWER

Without a doubt, there is a massive growth in size as regards pro-Biafra agitators and pro-Biafra groups. Some argue that having too many groups might be a problem in itself, this is based on the theory that too many hands spoil the stew.

However, there is straight in numbers and the pro-Biafrans are using this mightily. As the numbers swell, confidence is built stronger and with such confidence, they say "victory is certain".

5.MILITANT OF NIGER DELTA AND SOUTH-SOUTH SUPPORT

Not too long ago, the IPOB, stated that Biafraland is not only the areas inhabited by the Igbo-speaking people of the country.

The IPOB claimed that Biafra spans from Itsekiriland on the western boundary with Oduduwa to Bakassi on the eastern boundary with the Cameroons, and also stretches from Idoma and Igala land on the northern boundary with Northern Nigeria to the Bight of Biafra which is South of the island of Bonny.

6.TACTICAL APPROACH BUT PEACEFUL

In more recent times, secession has been approached from a no violence angle, the less report of violence by prio-Biafrans is a testimony to the fact that other very smart means are currently being employed to see that the dream is achieved.

Recently, the European Union (EU) said that though it holds strong diplomatic and economic relationship with Nigeria, the “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.” The EU went on to caution the OEAS and Biafran that the push for self-determination and border changes must be carried out within the ambits of established international law.

It added that Biafra can only be recognized through international law and not through armed secession.

On this day, it is wise for us as a nation to sit back and sober reflect on the Biafra war. The tragic, historic event, gives every one of us the chance to ask ourselves the one true question: "is Biafra really the answer?".
